A Pallet Flow Rack used in work process environments is commonly referred to as FIFO – ‘First In First Out’ in a pallet rack system. This allows production to use goods as they come in by date which can be very important in date-sensitive products. This is also commonly for fast-moving products that operators do not want to search for a static rack. These save time and space since the pallets are all in one location. A Pallet Flow Rack uses at floor levels and/or utilizes vertical facility space.
- Maximize Storage Capacity: Close to double the storage in the same footprint
- Increase Throughput: Less travel with consolidated picking and replenishment
- Decrease Equipment Costs: Few forklifts needed
- Reduce Labor Expense: Less forklift travel and pallet handling
- Better Inventory Control: Ideal for dated and/or perishable goods
How does pallet flow rack work?
Pallet Flow Rack can send pallets through standard pallet rack or to Carton Flow Systems consisting of multi-level pick modules to split loads into boxes or piece parts. With fewer aisles by storing pallets back to back, warehouse floor space utilization can be maximized.
The Flow Rack Moves Full Pallets with Gravity
Pallet Flow Racks allow a product to roll forward to the picking position. It does this with the use of metal skate wheels and gravity.
Smooth rolling metal skate wheels on sturdy rails come pre-assembled so that installation only requires dropping them into bays and securing with a Tek screw. Pallet Flow made simple.
The in-line wheels come on 2″, 3″ or 4″ centers and staggered wheels are for heavier loads on 1-1/2″ or 2″ centers. Pallet Flow lanes are for dropping the track into the bay. This fits securely in the step of the beam and a metal or nylon stop at the end keeps the pallet in the bay.
Pallets loaded from one side of the pallet racking and selected from the other. As workers remove each load, the pallet load behind moves forward automatically to the picking position. This system is ideal for rotating perishables or date-sensitive inventory.
